Currently, many water-repellent textiles are made from mixed materials, sometimes using chemicals such as fluoropolymers, and therefore cannot be recycled. The three-member Female Founder Team at Octo has therefore developed a technology that makes it possible to produce water-repellent and breathable textile surfaces without the use of fluoropolymers. A special property of the Octo yarn is that it cannot be wetted by water, which means that the textile remains dry even under water. It also reduces friction and is thermally insulating. Octo yarn is a circular mono-material, is made from recycled materials and can also be recycled again at the end of its life. It is suitable for use in numerous fields of application such as outdoor clothing or technical textiles.
