To date, there are no reliable methods for authenticating luxury animal hair textiles. Counterfeits and inferior admixtures are the order of the day and lead to a loss of quality and loss of trust. The Aachen-based startup HAIRSENSE has therefore developed a test method for analyzing the authenticity and quality of hair and fibers, which is based on a combination of high-resolution electron microscopy (SEM) and artificial intelligence. The startup offers its own quality analyses as a service. In addition, cooperation with international plant operators is sought, who can carry out hair analyses in their regional environment on the basis of software licenses. In addition to animal hair analyses, textile and human hair analyses will also be offered in the future, e.g. for the cosmetics industry. There are already the first pilot customers for this.
